Prof. Dr. Burcin Cem Arabacioglu is an architect and a full-time professor in the Department of Interior Architecture at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul where he has been a faculty member since 2002. He completed his Ph.D. at Interior Architecture Program and his undergraduate studies at Architecture Program at Mimar Sinan University. His research interests lie in the area of digital architecture and design, ranging from interactive space design with smart buildings to spatial analysis, with a focus on improving design quality. In recent years he has focused on better performance analysis techniques for interior design and architecture education with the help of digital media. Burcin has served on international and university journals’ editorial and reviewer boards. He served as the Director of Institute of Science and Technology of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, the Editorial Secretary of Tasarim+Kuram, The Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Faculty of Architecture Journal, Advisor to the Rector and Interior Design Studio Educational Coordinator.
Besides being the Vice-Rector of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, he is also currently a member of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Senate, Academic Evaluation and Quality Development Commission, Quality Assurance Commission.
Burçin is the recipient of several awards from international and national professional architectural competitions as well as the “YTONG Award of Merit” with his undergraduate education performance.
Besides being a professional architect and a faculty member Burçin is interested in sailing, fine-art photography as well as music and reflects the synergy as a result of the interaction between different disciplines to his works.
